The night nobody was home...or were they?

It's March now and spring is in the air here in Utah. The sun is shining more and temperatures are beginning to warm. Yesterday Jaymee and I took advantage of the beautiful day and the warm temperatures and took our longboards to Ogden in hopes to visit the Patterson's. At least if we got there and they weren't home we could ride our longboards, right? We got there and knocked on the door, no answer. It was almost 7pm and still light outside (thank you daylight savings) so we decided to longboard on the great hill near their house...they could be coming home soon. After longboarding for a few minutes Jaymee remembered that I still have a HUGE bucket of sidewalk chalk in my Jeep and had the great idea that we should leave them some art and a message. So we started drawing. At one point we both had to use the bathroom so bad that we drove to the Taco Time just up the street to use the restroom. When we returned to finish the driveway masterpiece we thought they may have come home while we were gone so we rang the doorbell again and gave the door another good knock, no answer. So we spent another hour...or two...finishing our beautiful work of art and all the while holding on to the glimmer of hope that they would soon come home.
The note we left them read: John & Cindy-
We came to Ogden for some ninja training. After brushing up on our skills we thought we should come to see you because we've missed you. We're sad that you're not home but we know that you are probably out fighting evil with your superhero powers. We love you! Brooke & Jaymee
P.S. The dry cleaner called and said your capes are ready.

After lots of waiting and drawing and laughing, we lost hope around 10:00 and went home. This morning I got an email from Cindy thanking us for the driveway art and also telling us that the entire time we were at their house they were home, in the basement, watching a movie with lots of caramel popcorn and treats, and wishing they had someone to share it with! Next time I think we'll knock on the windows. :-)

  1. *Brooke to Cindy: We like your neighbors dog. We heard her say his name so we were like, "Pebbles, you're cute and we like you."

*Cindy to Brooke: Actually his name is Bubbles....
