Inked

I finally got my first tattoo. I got it on Tuesday, as part of my celebrating Kara's birthday and life. Nick at Loyalty Tattoos did the work.

Poor guy had to do his best work while I, sister A.D.D. did my best to sit still for an hour.
I was so giddy I could hardly stand it.
Of course my BFF was there for the big event, as well as Dawn and Amanda.
Amanda took this picture at that one part when my eyes started to water and I had to try real hard to be tough...Daddy said not to cry.
The finished product. I absolutely love it...which is a good thing because it is on my forearm FOREVER. Cheers to Kara.

Happy Birthday Kara!

Today we remember how enriched the world was because of you. I love and miss you.

One for the record books

This weekend was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Dew Tour came to Snowbasin, the mountain I call home. Myself and some of my closest friends and coworkers were priveledged with VIP Access Zone Passes. I was treated like a queen.
The day began with a backstage tour of the half pipe. Jules, Amanda, Casey and myself suit up.
Amanda and Casey at the top of the pipe.

Practicing my "toe grab".

This was a nationally televised event.

Having the time of our lives.

Looking down the pipe from our backstage view during the practice runs.

Skis in the face on a practice run.

My skiing hero, Sarah Burke, as she finishes the run that won first place that day.

I wanna grow up to be like her.

Simon chillin' before a practice run through the slopestyle course.

Larger than life, truly.

At some point there had to be a bloody mary break.

Sunday wrapped up the tour with some good slopestyle finals.
The weekend as a whole was good for so many reasons. The competitions were cool. Meeting my hero, Sarah Burke, and having her hug me and sign my helmet was an experience beyond words...yes more wonderful than meeting Sarah Palin. What is it with people named Sarah???

At the advice of The Weepies...

I wrote a list of desires:
*Tour the US Coast to Coast on a Bicycle
*See and experience Alaska
*Volunteer my time
*Spend time with the people I love
*Join the Peace Corps

Haven't made a toast yet but we'll take care of that soon.

I made a wish:
"To love and be loved"

I didn't slash any tires, nor will I...this is about letting go of the anger.

And I didn't give up, thank god for that because now here I am.

A song for 2010

"Not Your Year"
-The Weepies

Scattered shadows on a wall, you watch the long light fall
Some impressions stay and some will fade
Tattered shoes outside your door, clothes all on the floor
Your life feels like the morning after all year long.

Everyday it starts again
You cannot say if you're happy
You keep trying to be
Try harder, maybe this is not your year.

Movies, TV screens reflect just what you expected
There's a world of shiny people somewhere else
Out there following their bliss
Living easy, getting kissed
While you wonder what else you're doing wrong.

Breathe through it, write a list of desires
Make a toast, make a wish, slash some tires
Paint a heart repeating, beating "don't give up, don't give up, don't give up."
