The Gardens: Thoughts on turning into a granny before 30...

turns out, there are beautiful tulips planted in the flower garden in front of my house.  who knew?  probably the lady who planted them.  i got so excited when they started sprouting up.  before they even bloomed.  then the warmth came and they began to open.  not before one last freeze though.  so there i was.  in my front yard at 11pm in the eve.  covering my tulips with sheets.  my 21 year old neighbor was watching me.  i felt like a serious granny.  with the exception of him i am the youngest homeowner on the block.  i felt really nerdy.  but my tulips lived.  and they are beautiful.  i have enjoyed every opportunity i can find to appreciate their beauty.  they are nearly gone now.  poor little things.  such a short life.

in good news and new life...

i am planting a vegetable garden as well.  again, feel free to call me granny.  i have cleared the plot and just need to till up the soil and throw some seeds down.  oh, and I guess i also need to decide just what it is that i’d like to grow.  i chose a cute little spot on the southwest corner of my house.  for several reasons.  its outside the fence so none of the furry four legs can destroy it. dig it up. eat it.  pee on it.  poop on it.  you know, all those things they do that make me love them so much.  that particular spot gets the best sun on the property.  and since i will be growing corn (the only thing that I know for sure i want to grow) there is already a fence to stabilize the little stalks as they grow.  so, soon to come...fresh veggies from my garden.  oh, i’ll be planting lettuce as well.  pick your jaw up off the floor now.
