it's here. almost. tomorrow is mt. rushmore day. the playlist is ready. named "gonna bum rush rushmore". don't ask. remnants of pshycobabble from the sarah palin campout. laudry is done. the lawn has been mowed. my bag is packed. the shopping list is made. the campground reservations have been made. we are ready.
the plan:
we will leave long before the sun ever blinks over the mountaintops tomorrow morning. 5am. a scheduled arrival in hill city, south dakota will be approximately 3pm. Plenty of time to set up camp and see the sights...namely "the heads" before dark. this weekend happens to also be the start of the sturgis motorcycle rally. we didn't plan for that. but i'm certain it will add an element of circus-esque activity to the trip. pure adventure always abounds.
saturday we'll depart south dakota en route to yellowstone and the tetons. the last, and only, other time i've been to the tetons was when they were covered in the clouded mystery of winter. i am giddy at the thought of finally seeing the mythical tetons. and then there's yellowstone. another world wonder that i have only been to in winter. via snowmobile. when temperatures were so subzero that we had to take advantage of every warming hut on the long ride in.
well. away we go.
