I love to ski!

This weekend proved to be fabulous skiing. On Saturday the weather was GREAT. Sunny, blue skies overhead all day and good company to be with.

Sunday, though clouded and even raining, proved to be a fabulous day full of laughter and oh so much fun. Jaymee and I got up for early morning gondola ride at niner. We took laps on Dan's Run for a couple of hours. We found this stellar little drop just off to skiers left after dropping into Dan's Run.

Jaymee took this killer picture of me going off of it. Her words after taking the picture were, "Why am I your best friend? Because I make you look GOOD in pictures!" It was sooo funny. Was she implying that I don't look good on my own, or was she just pointing out her killer photography skills. Well, it was a small jump but since she is my BFF I'm going to go ahead and say that she wasn't insulting me but that she was pointing out her skills!

We skied Dan's Run nearly all day, until the mountain closed, and had a total blast. On the very last run of the day (though we didn't call last run as it is against Cindy Patterson's rules) we were coming down School Hill and jibbing on lots of drifts and such. I decided to try a cool little trick that didn't work out so well....

And this is how I ended up! Luckily I came out with only a sore back and a bruised knee. I have no answer as to how my ski pole ended up in my crotch, but it did! Good thing I was wearing protective eyewear so as not to poke an eye out, right Julie and Jaymee! ;-)

It was a stupendous weekend!!!!

On another note of my other love affair, cycling...this week the weather is warmer (daytime highs are in the 40's) and it's sunny. Today I began riding my bike to work again. I don't know how long I'll be able to continue but for at least this week anyway. I don't know what the temperature was this morning but I expected it to be much colder than it really was and I completely overdressed. I was hot almost from the instant that I walked out the door but it felt sooooo good to be riding again. Tomorrow I will plan my wardrobe better. Even riding home in just my wool Backcountry.com jacket this afternoon I was hot. Also, I'd like to add that you fall out of shape in much less time than it takes to get into shape. Riding uphill all the way home, I quickly realized, is something that requires stamina and endurance. Both of those are things that take time and maintenance and don't just "happen" for an athlete.

I'm going to have to train in the off-season from now on!
