I am living for today, not someday. This lesson I gained from you.
In a photo of your smiling face I'm reminded of your love for people, your faith in humanity, and your joy for life.
My aim is to honor your memory and I am compelled to work to that end.
I long to hear your voice, your laugh. To converse, have a beer, laugh. Never a shortage of laughter in your presence.
Little Red Riding Hood is one short week away. Until now I was selfishly worried about my abilities to complete the ride...thoughts have shifted, focus has changed. Today I remembered why I am riding. Not because friends are riding, not because I needed the 100 mile challenge, not because I wanted the t-shirt, definitely not because I was dating a bike shop boy when I registered, not because I like organized rides, and not even because I thought it would be a cool thing to do. I am riding for Kara, in her memory, in her honor. I'm contributing to other women faced with the atrocious battle Kara fought. Kara would want that, she helped others and it could be said THAT was her legacy...contributing to others.
